New Flooring

If you are thinking about putting new flooring on your entry, stairs, bedrooms, office and bath you need to start two months ahead collecting boxes. Yep, it is just like moving, but not as simple as moving out of the dorm. You have all the closet bottoms, knooks/crannies, under beds, endless bookshelves, desktops, computers (you get the picture) to load into boxes and move under a tarp on the carport. This all, of course, needs to be done the day before the flooring installers show, so you can have access to your "stuff".

The installers came on April 17 and all went fairly smoothly for the install except for a surprise once the old stair carpet was ripped out. We had planned to place a dark laminate over the stair treads, plus Navajo White paint on the risers to match the wall. Since the stair treads already had nosing it was impossible to install the laminate without cutting off the noses. Larry decided to carpet the stairs the same color as the upstairs bedrooms.

We had a slight logistical challenge with the flooring install as Linda Long, Bill Knoll, Robert and Judy Verri were scheduled to be house guest on the evening of April 18. Luckily we finished all the flooring in the guest and bath rooms hours before their arrival.

Almost all the flooring is now installed. The carpet "guy" has to come back on Monday to finish the stairs, plus detail all the trim, etc. on the new flooring. New flooring really makes a difference. Next project will be patio doors from the living room onto the deck.
